Limited Driving Permits

Each driving with a suspended license offense adds an extra year to your license suspension. After three offenses, your license could be suspended permanently. In the past, it would take 5, 6 or even 7 years for the court to even consider restoring your license.

Recently, North Carolina changed the law on suspended licenses. If you qualify under the new law, the court will grant you a limited license (permit) that allows you to drive for one year. If you avoid any moving violations or other traffic-related offenses during the course of this year, you will be able to exchange the limited permit for a real license, if not disqualified by N.C. law.
